Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. ("AHP"), is seeking a Research Associate I to join our team of leading researchers in behavioral health and criminal justice studies.

AHP (www.ahpnet.com) is a fast-growing consulting and research firm specializing in health and behavioral health, offering technical assistance and training, system and program development, resource development and dissemination, and research and evaluation. Our core content areas include mental health policy and services, substance abuse treatment and prevention, co-occurring disorders, workforce development, homelessness and housing, and criminal justice.

Responsibilities

• Managing collection of jail and prison substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program information including outreach to program administrators and staff, communication with project team members and compendium development
• Assist in the implementation of virtual trainings for addiction counselors and other SUD treatment providers
• Maintaining tracking databases of program data, program staff and deliverables for federal grant reporting requirements
• Conducting key informant interviews with a wide range of stakeholders (state administrators, agency leadership, and clinicians/treatment providers)
• Participating in data collection and data quality/integrity tasks
• Conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses
• Preparing reports summarizing data and key program results
• Co-facilitating stakeholder meetings and preparing meeting minutes and other documents
• Preparing reports, presentations, data dictionaries, literature reviews, and other work products
• Contributing to business development efforts
• Meeting regularly with the project team to discuss project process, data, and any difficulties

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, public health, or related field.
• Previous experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis, data collection, proposal writing, and project management is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders including state-level administrators, jail and prison leadership and staff, correctional treatment professionals, behavioral health program directors, and clinicians.
• Experience working directly with individuals who are currently or have experienced life challenges such as substance misuse, mental health problems and/or justice involvement.
• Experience working or volunteering in direct service settings, justice-related agencies, or publicly-funded treatment programs, such as jails or prisons, reentry service providers, outreach programs, community-based SUD treatment centers, etc.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, technical staff, partners, and clients.
• Ability to operate in a team environment and be flexible in taking on and performing assignments as necessary.
• Ability to quickly establish a good rapport with federal partners, stakeholders and program leadership and staff.
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and qualitative analysis and citation management software. Experience with Stata and REDCap preferred/highly desirable.

Salary Range: $56,000 - $61,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
