Senior Scientist

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific and management leadership for a portfolio of large, complex projects.
  • Build, mentor, and lead cohesive, multidisciplinary, and client-focused teams, applying best practices in project management and methods with an emphasis on quality and fiscal responsibility.
  • Develop and lead new business opportunities in area of expertise.
  • Lead project meetings and other activities, assign responsibilities, supervise staff, resolve problems, and track budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, literature reviews and other work products.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Ph.D.
  • Expertise in winning, designing, and leading research or evaluation projects in one of the following areas:
    • Child welfare
    • Mental health services and policy
    • Workforce development
    • Substance use treatment and policy
  • Evidence of ability to win, manage, and monitor government contracts, grants, and/or cooperative agreements is required.
  • Prior experience working on SAMHSA, NIDA, NIAAA, CDC or other federal agency projects is highly valued.
  • Prior experience collecting and analyzing SAMHSA data tools including GPRA, NOMS and IPP.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff, partners, and clients.
  • Work environment: Interacting with multiple stakeholders. Work is broad in scope covering one or more complicated areas. A high degree of design and analytic ability and creative thinking is required to devise new, non-standard approaches to highly intricate, technically complex problems. Hybrid working modality and flexible working hours.
  • Personal attributes:
    • Attentive to details and excellent design, planning, and organization skills
    • Can communicate effectively with state leadership, organizational management, and community stakeholders
    • Skills, temperament, and interest in mentoring and training R&E Center staff
    • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups and in highly complex and demanding situations; and
    • Enthusiastic and curious about new methods and technologies, eager to learn, and active in taking on initiatives and new responsibilities.
  • Experience with quantitative analysis software (Stata strongly preferred), data collection tools (e.g., REDCap), qualitative analysis software (e.g., Dedoose) MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and citation management software.
  • Expertise in substance use prevention preferred.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $120,000

To be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, AHP publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
